Prevent accumulation of Toxins in your Body

What are toxins?

Toxins are poisonous substances that are produced by the living cells in our body. The term “toxin” comes from an originally Greek word called “toxikon”.

Toxins are basically small minute molecules, proteins or peptides that are potent enough to cause a disease in a living organism. Once toxins come in contact with living body cells or tissues and get absorbed in the process, they interact with the biological macromolecules like cellular receptors and enzymes causing adverse effects.

Toxins in generally vary to a large extent on the basis of how severe they are by nature. Toxins can be minor ones or of acute nature to even fatal deadly toxins that have the capacity to cause death even at the very first interaction. An example of an acute toxin is the common bee sting and botulinum toxin is the example of a deadly toxin that can prove to be fatal.

What is toxin accumulation?

There are a number of complicated biochemical reactions that continue taking place within our body and the various body systems. These processes often lead to the production of waste materials which start accumulating in the body in the form of toxins. This process of accumulation of waste products is termed as “toxin accumulation”.

Once such toxins start accumulating in the body it becomes more than necessary to remove these harmful elements from the body for a healthy physical condition. So, all of you need to detoxify your body through a sound process of body detoxification.

Other than the biochemical reactions in the body, there are a number of other environmental factors as well that contribute to the accumulation of toxins within the body. As we breathe, inhale and exhale and swallow atmospheric air, various kinds of toxic substances and dirt enter our body that gets accumulated in the form of toxins.

Even the medicines that you consume, though at an apparent stage help you, but it is necessary to cleanse your body of these toxins. If they are not removed from the system as soon as possible it is likely that they will lead to toxin accumulation in no time causing serious threat. Hence what becomes necessary is the process of body detoxification.

How to prevent Toxin Accumulation?

One of the most effective ways of preventing toxin accumulation is to carry out a vivid body detoxification process. But doctors suggest that before sending an individual on a natural body detox or detoxification diets it is necessary to build on his or her energy level in the first place. This is necessary as often a body detoxification can lead a person to a state over the edge that becomes hard to deal with.

Body detoxification is basically carried out by particular enzymes that are produced from meticulous genetic details stored in each of our genes. Though there are a number of genes involved in the overall process to detoxify your body. But the basic processes of body detoxification can be divided in to two phases. Here’s a detail of both.

Phase I> The enzymes in the first phase of body detoxification are termed “activators”. The activators are supposed to transform the chemicals in your body that need to be removed through addition of oxygen molecules and single nitrogen atoms. Though this is a rather small process yet the activation is necessary as it makes it easier for the Phase II to achieve the expected result.

Phase II> Enzymes that become active in the Phase II of the body detoxification process are termed as “excretors” The excretors take it over from the activators. The excretors do the job of binding the transformed chemicals to a smaller substance called glutathione. The excretors make it possible for the body to carry out a natural body detox by removing the substances as they get soluble in water.

In the Phase II of the body detoxification process which aims at removing all the toxins from your body, diet plays a very significant and indispensable role. The detoxification diets that you need to follow in order to detoxify your body may comprise of the following,

  • Eat cruciferous vegetables: As far as your detoxification diets are concerned, you need to include at least a single serving of cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, kale, radish, rutabagas, turnip, sprouts, Brussels, cabbage and watercress in your diet.
  • Need to consume onions and garlic on a regular basis: While you are trying to cleanse your body and carry out natural body detox, you need to make it a habit to eat onions and garlic on a regular basis as a part of your detoxification diets. These can be consumed in the raw form as sandwich filling or in the form of garnishing for the main dishes. These two vegetables are also referred to as the “allium” vegetables which can help increase the actions of the enzymes that take the main role in the Phase II of the body detoxification process. They help in flushing out the toxins a lot faster from the body.  Some of the other allium vegetables that may also help while you detoxify your body are leeks, chives, shallots and spring onion.

Loss of Joy and Anhedonia

Within the purview of psychology, anhedonia refers to a particular disorder whereby the patient becomes unable to feel any pleasure or experience any joy from normal day to day stimuli. The patients suffering from anhedonia cease to feel happy in normal social interaction, eating, sexual activities and even exercise. The term “Anhedonia” is a Greek word that originates from the original term in Greek meaning “inability to experience joy”.

Anhedonia is a commonly documented symptom of mood and anxiety disorder and the associated depression. Both the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM IV) hold a concurrent view in this context. Other than anhedonia the other commonly held symptoms of mood and anxiety disorder is an acutely depressed mood. Symptoms of anhedonia are also commonly found in patients suffering from schizophrenia and individuals having schizoid personality or schizoaffective disorder and many of the other mental disorders.

The critical psychological disorder of Anhedonia which causes acute anxiety and depression was for the first time identified during the 19th century. However, anhedonia continued to remain rather unacknowledged and under-studied as late as until the 1980s. This was so because during this time, psychologists were busy focusing on other obvious symptoms of anxiety and depression including poor concentration, depressed mood, tiredness, insomnia and loss of appetite along with suicidal thoughts as well.

Symptoms of Anhedonia

Individuals suffering from anhedonia are observed to develop a mood that is exceptionally flat and characterizes anxiety. Anhedonia makes people lose the ability to properly feel anything or react to any situation. Anhedonia features a non-variant mood syndrome which hinders patients from moving ahead with anything. A person suffering from this condition spends a good portion of his or her life in constant procrastination, unable to take decisions on everyday situations. Anhedonia makes the process of moving ahead with life rather difficult.

To give a sound idea of the various symptoms of anhedonia, apt examples would work the best.

  • A mother who suffers from anhedonia tends to find no pleasure in playing with her baby.
  • A footballer if suffering from anhedonia and anxiety disorder doesn’t feel even the least excited on scoring a goal.
  • A teenager if suffering from anhedonia and anxiety and depression is left untouched even when he/she manages to pass the driving test.
  • As far as relationships are concerned, Anehdonia is an anxiety disorder that puts a lot of strain on them. Moreover, Anhedonia also leads to a lessening of the sex drive which creates further gap in a marital relationship.

Anhedonia and anxiety and depression

Anxiety and depression are common symptoms that affect one in every five grown up individuals at one point in their lives. The disease of anhedonia along with schizophrenia can often worsen the situation to such an extent that the patient under anxiety and depression may even try suicide. Anxiety and depression is often triggered by a particularly sad event like a physical injury or the loss of a loved one or even due to chemical imbalances in the brain.

But that doesn’t mean that everyone who suffers from anxiety and depression will have anhedonia. Anhedonia is in fact rather rare in cases of mild depression. But for cases of serious anxiety disorder and depression, anhedonia may surface as a common symptom.

Once Anhedonia surfaces as an anxiety disorder, it may continue to persist even when the anxiety and depression ceases. But more often than not anhedonia may also go away as well. As far as the treatment of anhedonia and the symptoms of anxiety and depression are concerned they are often treated with antidepressant medicines only to heal partially.

Treating Anhedonia

Anhedonia causes a kind of anxiety and depression that affects an individual’s daily life significantly and he ceases to feel pleasure in any events of daily life. In such circumstances treating the anxiety disorder as soon as possible becomes all the more necessary to restore a normal and happy life for the patient.

Some of the effective and natural elements that help ease the severity of anhedonia and thereby do away with the condition itself are:

  • Yoga is an immensely effective treatment for anhedonia
  • Regular physical activity.
  • Deep and sound sleep for an extended period of time
  • In case of sex anhedonia in particular, consumption of a few special herbs can be a potent solution.
  • The Mind-Power-Rx and the SAM-e supplement can help lift spirits and elevate depressed moods
  • There are certain homeopathic treatments as well that deal with Anhedonia in an effective way.

In order to treat conditions of anhedonia in an effective way, physicians suggest a wholesome approach to a sound health which includes yoga, physical exercise, a healthy diet, keeping a sound goal and aim in life, maintain closer ties with friends and family, traveling on regular intervals, etc. All of these together can help deal with anhedonia in a more focused manner.

Exercise during Depression to stay healthy

Experiencing depression is an immensely frustrating process. It can be extremely incapacitating and creates an immensely difficult living environment around the victim. Irrespective of the nature of symptoms when a person suffers from depression, it becomes very hard to pull oneself out of the big dark hole that characterizes utter despair.  One of the most effective ways of dealing with acute depression is through physical exercise.

In fact, simultaneous research on exercise and depression and the effect of exercise on the latter date back to as much as 200 years back. Only recently did scientists come up with the fact that exercise has a lot of beneficial advantages on the overall mood in both clinically depressed as well as healthy individuals.

Most of the research work and studies carried out in this context enhance the fact that depression and exercise had both physiological and psychological counteractions for the participants who took part in the examinations. More than 90% of the participants who took part in the examination did display a positive influence of exercise in reducing the level of depression. The results are quick to notice.

Further study on hospitalized individuals suffering from depression revealed that when the individual was put on an exercise regimen, it showed significant amounts of reduction in the levels of depression and that too for an extended period of time. Participants suffering from depression who took part in special programs of aerobic exercise were detected with improved relief symptoms. On the other hand other patients suffering from depression who took part in simple occupational therapies did not report any significant improvements in their condition.

In fact doctors are of the view that patients suffering from depression, if asked to go for 8 weeks of continuous jogging, walking or other forms of recreational therapy, would show rapid improvement in comparison to others. The effects will be evident all the more if the effects in this case are compared to another group of patients suffering from depression who are not initiated on such an exercise regimen.

Depression is a very common mental situation that most of us have either experienced at one point of time or heard of from a close friend or associate. Though therapy and medication are some of the common ways of treating depression, yet exercise is an immensely effective tool that not only ensures a speedy relief but also ascertains a healthy lifestyle thereafter. In fact, numerous studies conducted in this context have revealed the same result repetitively, that exercise can be implemented in an efficient way to fight moderate to severe levels of depression.

Though there is no evidence of the fact as to which particular kind of exercise has a more deep impact and effect on depression, nonetheless most physicians are of the view that aerobic activities and running are two of the most effective physical exercises that helps reduce depression. Walking also has positive effects on reducing depression.

Effects of exercise on depression

Discussed next are various ways in which different kinds of exercise including aerobics and walking exercise can help reduce depression thereby showing the depressed individual the way to a healthy lifestyle once again.

  • Physical fitness exercise helps build on the sense of command and self confidence. This comes in real handy for individuals suffering from depression as it brings back the feeling of control over one’s own life.
  • Physical exercise helps reduce depression and boost the overall energy levels.
  • Physical exercise and walking exercise also plays an instrumental role in building on the self esteem of the individual suffering from chronic depression.
  • One of the most significant facts about physical exercise is that it provides a very solid distraction from the worries and anxieties common in depression.
  • Physical exercise and walking exercise helps improves one’s body and health ensuring a healthy existence. This can also help lift one’s spirits to a large extent that diminishes the feelings of depression.
  • Physical exercise also does away with all pent up stress and stored frustration which removes the mental pressure and dismisses all such situations that are potential enough to lead to depression.
  • Finally, physical exercise rather just any kind of exercise helps you sleep better. Sleeping is one of the most significant problems in depression where individuals complain of insomnia and other problems in sleeping. In such situations exercise can come in real handy.

Effective exercise workouts to treat Depression

In order to manage depression, no exercise can be termed as either right or wrong. The high intensity physical exercise like aerobics and jogging provides a two-step outcome. One is that it engages the mind and body preventing it from stagnating into the pool of depression. The other is it triggers the release of particular hormones that can help the depressed individual feel rather good. On the other hand there are also lower intensity physical exercise like Pilates and yoga which initiate relaxation and helps connect the body with the soul ensuring a healthy outcome.

Fatigue is dangerous as the statistics say that 20% of road accidents take place because the person who is driving is fatigued. Furthermore, approximately 20% Americans complain that fatigue hinders their normal life.

What exactly is fatigue?

Fatigue makes an individual feel extremely tired or weak which makes it difficult for an individual to do daily activities. It is a feeling of lack of energy that hugely affects ones daily life hindering the completion of the normal tasks.

Fatigue is a symptom that affects different individuals in different kinds of ways giving rise to conditions that hugely differ from one person to other. Some people under effects of chronic fatigue may feel immensely tired. The only thing that they do in such situations of fatigue is sleep a lot. Often fatigue may be accompanied with body pain and also initiate a feeling of defeat making people think as if they have lost control over their lives.

Are you suffering from severe fatigue?

Severe fatigue or chronic fatigue which is also medically termed as CMS is a situation of long drawn fatigue. Continued fatigue often surface with other related symptoms apart from tiredness, such as

  • Persistent sore throats
  • Muscle pain
  • Pain in the joints all over the body
  • Soft lymph nodes
  • New and unknown kinds of headaches
  • Impaired memory
  • Loss of concentration

What are the causes of severe fatigue/chronic fatigue?

Severe physical fatigue may be the result of a prolonged day at work characterizing stress, immense hard work and a hectic schedule with a strict deadline.

On the other hand, a lot different from physical fatigue is emotional fatigue that is often a lot more serious and chronic in nature. Emotional fatigue more often than not surfaces at its apex early in the morning and as the day progresses the level of fatigue continues to reduce with a reduction in the feeling of tiredness.

Some significant factors that cause physical fatigue are:

  • In case an individual is unable to get an ample amount of sleep then suffering from fatigue is a common situation.
  • Individuals suffering from chronic health problems are more prone to feel tired and experience severe fatigue.
  • Lack of enough physical exercise and an unhealthy physical condition often results in chronic fatigue.
  • Obesity is yet another immensely significant cause that not just gives rise to chronic fatigue but also makes individuals feel acutely tired hindering their overall performance and day to day activity.
  • Certain over the counter medicines may often lead to severe fatigue as a potential side effect of the drugs. These include some of the commonly prescribed drugs for blood pressure and antihistamines as well.
  • There are a few other causes as well that may also be responsible for causing stress and fatigue. These involve extreme temperature conditions, having to wait for long hours and immense traffic as well which give rise to a tired feeling.

What causes emotional fatigue?

There are particular causes responsible for giving rise to emotional fatigue as well. These are:

  • More than anything else, anxiety and depression are two of the most acutely responsible factors that lead to emotional fatigue.
  • Often individuals try to extend their personal abilities and capacities to a level beyond the extent that they can manage to achieve. This can often lead to failure which initiates fatigue.
  • Hiding one’s emotions is another potential factor that causes chronic fatigue of the emotional kind making the individual feel tired on a regular basis.

Some of the effective ways of killing chronic fatigue/severe fatigue

While treating severe fatigue or chronic fatigue, doctors proceed with their treatment in a way as if they were real life detectives. The doctors try to find out as much details and information as possible about the fatigue symptoms that a patient is experiencing. They also refer to their entire medical history in order to trace any such potential prior illness that may be the reason to the present symptoms of fatigue. This is necessary as such an approach helps to gain a sound knowledge of various possibilities that may be responsible and would be necessary for further exploration.

Often physicians uncover prior situations when the individual had been suffering from physical conditions like depression, anemia, diabetes or thyroid imbalance all of which are potent enough to lead to both severe fatigue and chronic fatigue in case they re-surface.

When there are no prior sources found, and then the doctor may suggest the fatigued patient to follow a few steps. Here’s a list of some of the possible steps that he may suggest for reducing fatigue,

  • Gradual and daily exercise to do away with the tired feeling and fatigue
  • Start practicing meditation and deep breathing that are effective techniques that aim at doing away with stress and fatigue.
  • Practice healthy eating and sleeping habits for increasing metabolism which will help reduce fatigue.
